RodRadar and SITECH Deutschland GmbH have joined forces to enhance excavation safety with cutting-edge technology that prevents underground utility strikes in real time. Their partnership aims to expand access to innovative solutions that safeguard construction sites and minimize costly damages.
RodRadar, the creator of Live Dig Radar (LDR), has entered a strategic distribution agreement with SITECH Deutschland GmbH, a leading provider of construction technology solutions in Germany. This collaboration introduces an advanced excavation safety system that provides real-time visibility of underground utilities, eliminating blind digging, reducing damage risks, and preventing costly project delays. SITECH will now serve as the primary distributor for Germany and Austria.
In Germany, approximately 100,000 underground utility strikes occur annually, with excavation machinery responsible for nearly 80% of these incidents. Austria faces around 34,000 cable and pipeline damages each year, leading to extensive repair costs, project disruptions, and safety hazards. Insurance companies in Germany alone cover roughly €500 million ($540 million) annually in excavation-related claims, with the total economic impact reaching billions when factoring in downtime, legal liabilities, and infrastructure damage.
A major cause of these incidents is outdated or incomplete utility mapping and human error. The collaboration between SITECH and RodRadar aims to address this issue by integrating advanced radar and AI-driven technology. This solution provides operators with immediate, automatic, and clear alerts about underground hazards—without requiring external expert analysis—making excavation safer and more efficient.
RodRadar’s patented Live Dig Radar enhances productivity by minimizing excavation downtime and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Through SITECH’s extensive distribution network, contractors in Germany and Austria will have direct access to this groundbreaking technology, empowering them to make informed decisions and prevent unnecessary risks.
“This partnership with SITECH Deutschland strengthens our commitment to revolutionizing excavation safety,” said Moshe Dalman, co-founder and CEO of RodRadar. “By bringing Live Dig Radar to European contractors, we’re enabling them to excavate with confidence, avoid costly delays, and mitigate risks.”
The technology will be featured at bauma 2025, along with a live demonstration at SITECH’s offsite innovation zone in Feldkirchen. Attendees will witness firsthand how Live Dig Radar prevents underground strikes, showcasing its potential to transform excavation safety.
