Showcased at World of Asphalt 2025, the updated Volvo CE SD75 and SD45 soil compactors, along with the PT125 pneumatic tire roller, now feature improvements that boost safety, ease of maintenance, and operator interface.

At World of Asphalt 2025, Volvo Construction Equipment revealed several upgrades to its soil and asphalt compaction models, along with a preview of an upcoming electric version.

The SD75 and SD45 soil compactors, as well as the PT125 pneumatic tire roller, now feature enhancements designed to improve safety, ease of service, and the operator experience. Volvo also gave a first look at the DD15 Electric asphalt compactor.

Enhanced Safety and Serviceability Features

The SD45, SD75, and PT125 machines now support over-the-air software updates, with their wiring optimized for better commonality, cost-efficiency, and simpler servicing.

To reduce maintenance downtime, Volvo has doubled the diesel particulate filter (DPF) replacement intervals on these models from 3,000 hours to 6,000 hours.

Additionally, the new models come equipped with LED work lights and beacons replacing older halogen lights, and telematics systems now include GSM/GPS and SATCOM antennas for superior machine connectivity.

Operators will find improvements to the human-machine interface (HMI), including new software, enhanced keypads, a USB charging port, and a 5-inch full-color LCD display—now the same as those found on Volvo’s compact double drum compactors and excavators. Other updates to the HMI include automatic idle functions, auto engine shutdown to conserve fuel, and an indicator showing remaining fuel hours.

The SD75 also introduces a new fan reverse menu, along with an optional five-frequency selection that lets operators choose the appropriate setting for different surface types.

The updated PT125 now features a new drive motor with an integrated speed sensor for improved performance.

Electric Model to Minimize Emissions in Small Jobs

The DD15 Electric asphalt compactor is a 1.5-ton double drum model designed for smaller projects, such as parking lots, driveways, and municipal work, closely resembling the larger 2.5-ton DD25 Electric.

This electric compactor charges fully in just 3.5 hours with a 240-volt Level 2 setup or in 12 hours using a 120-volt Level 1 outlet. With typical light usage, the DD15 Electric can provide several days of operation, benefiting from the absence of idle time compared to diesel-powered machines do
