Vögele Introduces Next-Gen Screed Solution for Compact Road Pavers

Vögele engineered the screed from the ground up, featuring a streamlined, low-profile design that provides a clear, unobstructed view of the full auger tunnel while maintaining a compact footprint.

New 8-Foot-Class Screed Designed for Greater Efficiency and Versatility

A new screed system has been introduced for 8-ft. class pavers, aiming to boost productivity in road construction and mid- to large-scale paving applications.

This latest screed model features extendable sections that can be inclined up to 10%, specifically engineered to meet the paving needs common across North America. When paired with compatible mid-sized pavers, the unit supports working widths from 8 feet 4 inches up to over 20 feet, offering high performance for both highway and commercial paving. The integration of a vibration-based compaction unit ensures excellent surface smoothness and preliminary compression.

Reimagined from the Ground Up

The screed has been completely redesigned with a compact, low-profile frame to give operators a clear line of sight into the auger chamber. A dual-stage telescoping guide system allows smooth, precise width adjustments, while a heavy-duty center joint facilitates hydraulic crown adjustments and provides the structural strength needed for extended paving widths.

Fully Adjustable End Gates and Edge Control

End gates can now be raised or lowered hydraulically with the push of a button. Operators also benefit from an adjustable edge angle feature that allows infinite control from 0 to 90 degrees, delivering cleaner edges and improved surface quality.

Electric Heating Enhances Surface Finish

To maintain material workability and ensure a uniform finish, the screed includes electric heating across all material-contacting parts. Integrated heating on the lead edge of the screed plate helps prevent material buildup, resulting in a smoother finish. A smart power management system optimizes generator use to lower energy consumption and fuel use during operation.

Built for User Comfort and Control

With a user-focused interface, the new screed includes an intuitive control system that groups all key functions and parameters into a clear, easy-to-navigate layout. Operators can view and adjust settings such as grade and slope controls directly from the side consoles. Width changes are made easy through a SmartWheel mechanism, while dual remote-control units with magnetic mounts provide added flexibility, enabling operators to adjust screed functions from their ideal vantage point.
