Upgrading Excavator Tilt Buckets for Greater Precision and Control

A new module for tilt bucket attachments has been introduced for the Siteworks Machine Guidance system, expanding its capabilities.

The integration of the Siteworks Machine Guidance module with excavator tilt bucket attachments enhances in-cab visibility of the cutting edge across its full range, boosting operational versatility. Operators can now perform tasks such as precise grading, ditch cleaning, accurate backfilling, and complex slope work with ease. This enables the creation of contoured landscapes and effective operation in tight spaces, ultimately saving time and preventing costly errors.

This advancement further expands the functionality of Siteworks Software, enabling a seamless transition from surveying and layout to on-machine guidance, providing support for tilt buckets and tilt couplers.

The Siteworks Machine Guidance system is designed to ensure smooth transitions between various tasks. Operators can use the same system for surveying and machine control, easily switching it between different machines and job sites. This is made possible by an easy-to-install machine kit and the Siteworks Machine Guidance software module.

“Siteworks Machine Guidance is an integrated solution for both layout and excavation. By incorporating 3D guidance to the tip of a tilt bucket, operators maintain constant awareness of the bucket’s position in relation to the 3D model,” said Elwyn McLachlan, vice president of civil solutions. “The operator can collect data in the field with Siteworks as a GNSS rover, mount it on the machine, and use full 3D guidance to dig to design specifications. Afterward, they can take the technology off the machine to capture as-built data. This entire workflow is simple and efficient for one person to handle.”

The system features the R780 GNSS Smart Antenna with tilt compensation, powered by the ProPoint positioning engine, and can be paired with a bring-your-own-device or a compatible field tablet running Siteworks software.

Beyond field efficiency, contractors can easily share designs, access remote support, and maintain project progress using WorksManager Software. When paired with a real-time correction service, contractors gain greater flexibility and high-accuracy positioning worldwide, even in remote areas, eliminating the need for local base stations or VRS networks.
